Joining the Board of Directors

Are you a passionate and dedicated member eager to make a meaningful impact? Consider taking the next step in your involvement by joining the Board of Directors! Serving on the Board is not only a fulfilling experience but also a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our CAO and Aspiring CAO community.  You must be a Full Member = a CAO (or City Manager or Clerk-Treasurer) currently employed by an Ontario municipality to be eligible.

Read the Job Descriptions:

Submit an Application for Board Nomination between February and March. The Nominations Commitee reviews and scores all applications before recommending a list to the Board of Directors. The Board reviews and approves this list which is then submitted to the members at the Annual General Meeting to vote on. Once approved, individuals on the list immediately become members of the new Board of Directors.

Board of Directors Progression

Any Directors interested in joining the Executive declare their intentions during the Board Nomination process each spring. Directors generally do this after the completion of at least one two-year term. The current Board holds a secret ballot to elect a Second Vice Chair whenever more than one director is interested in the position. That individual serves as Second Vice Chair for the next year before moving to First Vice Chair and so as indicated in the graph below. This means that the minimum time required for a complete cycle is six years
